About Dr. Swallow
Psychologist. Author. Educator.
Dr. Stephen R. Swallow is a psychologist with four decades of experience in academia and clinical practice. He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Western Ontario in 1990. After spending a number of years as a psychologist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, he founded the Oakville Centre for Cognitive Therapy—one of Canada’s premier cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) clinics.

Dr. Swallow is co-author (with Dr. Nina Josefowitz) of “The Behavioral Activation Workbook for Depression." Behavioral activation is a highly effective approach to the treatment of depression--an approach that Dr. Swallow and Dr. Josefowitz have used to help many people dealing with mood problems. The book is practical, user-friendly, up-to-date, research-based, and full of strategies and tools for getting unstuck, getting motivated, and building a better, more depression-resistant life.
Dr. Swallow is also writing an upcoming book on the topic of equanimity. Stay tuned for more information on this project.
